Natomas Charter School – Performing and Fine Arts Academy

 

As a potential member of the Blackrock Dance Company it is important to meet the following criteria:

 

Academic Requirements

·      Completed or enrolled in a Level II dance class or higher

·      3.0 GPA or higher no D’s or F’s

·      Must have a B or higher in all dance classes

·      Can not be on behavior, academic or attendance probation

 

Skill/technical Guideline

·      Double pirouette in parallel and turned out

·      Developpe /extensions 90 degrees or higher

·      Petit allegro coordination and speed/phrasing

·      Strength and speed in Grand allegro

·      Correct and effective transitions from movement

·      Strong musicality and performance qualities

·      Ability to pick up and retain combinations and express choreography

 

Additional Performance Qualities

·      Overall engagement and positive energy consistently

·      Has stage presence, which is apparent in technique work and choreography

·      Conveys emotion while dancing

 

As a dancer at Natomas Charter School and a potential member of the Blackrock Dance Company, it is not only important to demonstrate an excellence in the above skills and qualities, but it is important to be an outstanding student and citizen.

 

·      Demonstrate a strong work ethic

·      Perform consistently in class and rehearsals daily

·      Engages oneself professionally and maturely in class with peers and teachers on a regular basis

·      Is an outstanding citizen of Natomas Charter School – PFAA

 

 

*Note:

Students may also be awarded a position in Dance Company if the student will help to balance the department’s artistic ensemble.  

Students may not be involved in any other on site performance groups.
